The satellite consisted of two main parts, the spacecraft and the telescope system as shown in
Fig. II.A.1. The overall dimensions of the satellite, with deployed solar panels, were: height 3.60m, width 3.24m, depth 2.05m. The spacecraft and telescope system are described here with sufficient detail to allow the user of the catalog to understand how observations were made and the various limitations to the accuracy of these measurements. A fuller description of the spacecraft is given by Pouw (1983).
