ACS Mosaic Information
The ACS v1.3 mosaic was generated from version 1.3 of the COSMOS ACS data, using IRSA's Mosaic Toolkit. The mosaic as a single file, is a 108,291 x 108,291 pixel FITS image, which is 87GB in size. Since this file is over 2GB is size (unix 32bit "large file" limit), the full-resolution mosaic cannot be downloaded in its entirety via HTTP. Instead, you can download one of the scaled-down images listed below, or download the mosaic as a set of 49 tile FITS images, which can be found here and are described in more detail in the table below.
FTP the entire ACS Mosaic:
The entire 87GB mosaic FITS file is available for download using ftp. Please follow the instructions below to get this file:

[use username "anonymous" to log in, and your email as the password]
> cd /work/COSMOS
> binary
> get acs_mosaic_v1.3.fits
> bye
Please note that the download can take many hours, depending
on your ethernet speed (this file is 94GB).
Scaled-down ACS Mosaics:
- 9MB binned FITS image (full size mosaics binned by a factor of 100 in both x and y)
- 18MB binned FITS image (full size mosaics binned by a factor of 70 in both x and y)
- 36MB binned FITS image (full size mosaics binned by a factor of 50 in both x and y)
- 143MB binned FITS image (full size mosaics binned by a factor of 25 in both x and y)
- 894MB binned FITS image (full size mosaics binned by a factor of 10 in both x and y)
- 0.1MB JPEG (grey scale image of the binned mosaic)
