FIDEL Spitzer and Ancillary Data
Far-Infrared Deep Extragalactic Legacy Survey (FIDEL) contains sensitive and extensive far-infrared deep field observations with Spitzer to detect warm dust emission from hundreds of relatively ordinary starburst galaxies and active galactic nuclei at redshifts of 1 to 2 (7 to 10 billion years ago), and thousands more nearby. The survey also detects tens of thousands of high redshift objects at mid-infrared wavelengths. The program is obtaining data in three fields on the sky. The bulk of the data is being taken in two fields, the Extended Chandra Deep Field South (ECDFS) and the Extended Groth Strip (EGS). A smaller amount of additional data is being obtained in the GOODS-North area.

The second delivery (DR2) of the Spitzer data from the FIDEL Legacy Project, are available here using spatial and visualization tools. IRSA is serving the FIDEL Enhanced Products (Sept 17, 2007) data from the Spitzer Science Center (SSC) public data staging location. DR2 contains MIPS image mosaics for all three FIDEL fields.
The sky coverage is shown on the FIDEL MIPS images above. Either type in a coordinate or click within the red outlined region to get a close-up of the area; the size of the search is adjustable. Search results will include cutout images cropped to the search box as well as the associated original images which overlap the area of interest.
