Figure 5.2 shows the flowchart of the BCD pipeline, starting with the module CVTI2R4. The processing flow takes as input the file raw.fits, which was created from a MIPL (“Multi-Mission Image Processing Laboratory”) file produced at JPL. MIPL files contain a complete telemetry record of the observation. The file raw.fits is a MIPL file whose header has been processed by the module TRANHEAD to a more compact, more readable format.
