Cool Stars 14 - Submitted Abstract # 261 This version created on 05 October 2006 Properties of Cool Stars in the HST Next-Generation Spectral Library Sally Heap, Goddard Space Flight Center Don Lindler, Sigma/Advanced Computer Concepts The Next Generation Spectral Library (NGSL) comprises low-resolution spectra of 380 stars over the wavelength range, 0.18 - 1.00 microns. All the spectra were obtained by Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) on the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). The program stars have diverse metallicities ranging from [Fe/H]~ -2.5 to +0.5. We have carried out a custom reduction of these data and constructed a library that will be made available through MAST at the STScI. We have estimated the stellar parameters though uvby photometry and have compared them to parameters derived from spectroscopy. We are now making a critical comparison of our best-estimate parameters to evolutionary models constructed by vandenBerg and colleagues. ----------------------------------
