IRSA bibliography Methodology Details

ADS Labs Searches

For those missions without dedicated bibliographies, the ADS Labs Integrated Search was used to identify relevant papers. The parameters of our searches for each mission are described below.

Search String:

2MASS: full:("2MASS" OR "Two Micron All Sky Survey") year: XXXX

WISE: full:(("WISE" or "NEOWISE") and not "Astro-WISE" and not "1-m WISE" and not "WISE 1-m")

IRAS: full:("IRAS" OR "Infrared Astronomy Satellite") year: XXXX

Other IRSA Holdings: full:("COSMOS" OR "BLAST" OR "BOLOCAM" OR "IRTS" OR "MSX" OR "SWAS" OR "BRAVA" OR "MUSYC") -"COSMOS-" year: XXXX

Planck Collaboration: author:"Planck Collaboration"

Options:

We choose "Articles only".

Filters:

Under Refereed status, we choose "refereed".

Statistical Correction Factor

Correction factors were determined by examining approximately 100 results from a given search. Papers that used the data for the paper were considered relevant. Other papers referred to another study that used the data, or referred to an object that was named after a mission, and were not considered relevant papers for the bibligraphy. The correction factor was computed as the ratio of relevant papers to the total number of papers inspected.

In the future, we intend to improve our methodology by refining searches to automatically weed out likely interlopers and calculate correction factors as a function of year instead of applying global ones.

Spitzer Database

The entries shown in the Spitzer row are exported from the Spitzer Bibliographic Database (http://sohelp2.ipac.caltech.edu/bibsearch/).
