COSMOS ACS Mosaic Information


The ACS v2.0 mosaic was created by Anton Koekemoer at STScI, using cycle 12+13 data. The README has further information on the ACS mosaic. The mosaic as a single file is a 168,000 x 168,000 pixel FITS image, which is 225GB in size. Since this file is over 2GB in size (unix 32bit "large file" limit), the full-resolution mosaic cannot be downloaded in its entirety via HTTP. Instead, you can download one of the scaled-down images listed below, or download the mosaic as a set of 144 tile FITS images, which can be found here and are described in more detail in the table below.

Click on the tile number to download each FITS (gzip format) image slice of the mosaic. Tile numbers correspond to the COSMOS CFHT Tile Diagram. Each file is under 2GB in size when unzipped (20,480 pixels square). North is "up" on image below.
