This README describes the contents of the following files: cosmos_galaxy_postage_stamps.tar cosmos_galaxy_postage_stamp_weights.tar 1) cosmos_galaxy_postage_stamps.tar For each of 26,113 galaxies, there are either 3 or 4 files. In all cases, the file name begins with prefix=COSMOSID_RA_DEC (RA and Dec given in J2000, degrees). Information about the galaxy sample, including the COSMOS IDs and galaxy properties, are available on the SHERA website. For each galaxy, there are the following files: PREFIX_processed.fits.gz = the galaxy postage stamp image, with 0.03" pixel scale, CTI corrections, sky subtracted, and other nearby objects masked with a noise field. This images are suitable for use with the SHERA code to simulate ground-based images, or for fitting directly with model-fitting code. PREFIX.psf.fits.gz = the estimated TinyTim PSF for the galaxy observation, given the ACS focus position and position of the galaxy on the CCD. PREFIX.sdsspsf.fits.gz = the SDSS PSF model at the position of the galaxy in SDSS observations of that region. Optionally, for those galaxies detected in SDSS, there is a file PREFIX.sdssimg.fits.gz = the postage stamp image of the galaxy in SDSS, with 0.396" pixel scale, sky subtracted and other objects masked out. 2) cosmos_galaxy_postage_stamp_weights.tar For each of the 26,113 galaxies, this tarfile includes a weight map for the COSMOS image, PREFIX.wht.fits.gz. This weight map is not needed for running the SHERA code, but may be needed for those who want to, e.g., fit the COSMOS images themselves to determine galaxy profiles.
