The NHSC held the Herschel Cycle 1 Open Time Proposal Planning Workshop on June 3-4, 2010 in Pasadena, California. Tutorials included background information on the observatory's instrument suite, observing modes, proposal planning tool, and the submission process, in coordination with the HSC.

A simultaneous observation planning workshop was held at ESAC, Madrid, Spain.
