The Echelon-cross-Echelle Spectrograph, EXES, is a high-resolution, mid-infrared spectrograph designed for SOFIA. EXES had its first two flights April 7 and 9, 2014. Both flights were successful and we are now in the process of looking at our data. I will present a summary of EXES, its instrument configurations, and its observing modes. I will describe the importance of high spectral resolution and how we achieve it in EXES and its complementary ground-based instrument, TEXES. Finally, I will try to highlight some of the science results we believe will come from our commissioning observations.
