As SOFIA’s new Science Mission Operations Director, I will highlight some of the major science areas that SOFIA has impacted, give its status and my vision for moving forward on SOFIA. The SOFIA mission will face a senior review in 2022 and has the significant challenge to dramatically increase its scientific publication rate and impact in astronomy. The future of SOFIA literally lies in your hands because it’s your effort and publications that will ensure SOFIA’s future. I would like to spend half the time discussing with you how we can dramatically increase SOFIA’s science output.
