6.3.3             Level 1, Basic Calibrated Data, or BCDs

The individual data frames that emerge, calibrated, from the Spitzer pipeline are Level 1 Data, or Basic Calibrated Data, or BCDs. Table 6.6 is a list of the BCD files delivered by the Spitzer Heritage Archive for a spectrosopic AOR. Figure 6.1 is a cartoon illustrating the relationship between these files.

bcd.fits

A BCD is either (1) a 2-D echellogram for the high-resolution data (modules S1 and S3); (2) a long-slit 2-D spectrum for the low-resolution data (modules S0 and S2); or (3) an image for the peak-up modes (module S0).

bcdb.fits

If SL spectra were obtained, the peak-up module was also exposing on an adjacent part of the sky.  bcdb.fits is the cropped, calibrated blue peak-up image.

bcdr.fits

If SL spectra were obtained, the peak-up imaging arrays were also exposing on an adjacent part of the sky.  bcdr.fits is the cropped, calibrated red peak-up image.
