Chapter 10.      User Registration

10.1            Introduction

While you certainly do not have to register to search the archive, download data, analyze it, and write a paper, you may wish to register so that the archive remembers you, your searches, and your preferences.

 

On the other hand, if you have proprietary data, you will need to log in so that the system grants you access to your data. If you were contacted about account information for Spitzer observations in the past, you may already have an account; else you can set up an account (see below). Once you have set up an account, please contact the helpdesk (http://irsa.ipac.caltech.edu/data/SPITZER/docs/spitzerhelpdesk/) and we'll tie your new account to your proprietary data.

 

10.2            Sign In

The "sign in" link is in the far top right of the SHA page.

 

Select this option to log in if you know your password, or to create a new account..

 

10.3            Forgot your Username or Password

If you do not remember your username or password, select this option to retrieve this lost information.

 

Find this option by selecting "Sign in" in the far top right of the SHA page, and then "Forgot your Username or Password?" appears as an option in the right side of the resulting window.

 

10.4            Create Account

Select this option to create a new account.

 

Find this option by selecting "Sign in" in the far top right of the SHA page, and then "Create an account" appears as an option in the right side of the resulting window..

 

10.5            Change Password

To change your password on an existing account, first log in via the "Sign in" link on the far top right of the SHA page. Then, click on the "Profile" link that appears near where the "Sign in" link used to be, next to "Sign Out." Then, in the resulting window, by default, you are dropped into "Edit Account". Select instead "Change Password" from the left side. Enter the requested information.

 

10.6            Edit Account

To update your account information, first log in via the "Sign in" link on the far top right of the SHA page. Then, click on the "Profile" link that appears near where the "Sign in" link used to be, next to "Sign Out." Then, in the resulting window, by default, you are dropped into "Edit Account". You can then edit/add the information associated with your account.

 

To return to searching without making changes, click the "back" button in the window, NOT in your browser.

 

10.7            Preferences

After logging in, you also may access your preferences.

 

First log in via the "Sign in" link on the far top right of the SHA page. Then find the large blue tab in the top center of your browser window.

 

You can configure table page sizes, your notification email, the units of a distance measurement readout, etc.

 

To return to searching, click "Close" in the upper left.
