Cool Stars 14 - Submitted Abstract # 10 This version created on 05 October 2006 Planets of young stars Eike Guenther, Thueringer Landessternwarte Tautenburg Massimiliano Esposito, Thueringer Landessternwarte Tautenburg Since the first massive planet in a short period orbit was discovered, the question arised how such an object could have formed. There are basically two formation scenarios: migration due to planet-disk or planet-planet interaction. Which of the two scenarios is more realistic can be found out by observing short-period planets of stars with an age between 10^7 and 10^8 yrs. The second aim of the survey is to find out the frequency of massive, close-in planets at young age. Since all hot Neptunes orbiting old stars were hot Jupiters at young age, a high frequency of massive, close-in planets is expected. We thus started a RV-search program for planets of young stars in 2001. The northern hemisphere survey is been carried out with the 2-m-telescope of the TLS and contains 46 stars, the southern part of the survey contains 56 stars, and is being carried out with HARPS. We demonstrate that the detection of planets of young stars is possible, and present the data of the 5 planet candidates detected.Additionally, we derive an upper limit for the frequency of young, close-in planets and discuss its implications. ----------------------------------
