Metallicity determination of M dwarfs with TripleSpec

Host star metallicity is a determining factor in the abundance of
planets. Above solar metallicity, the number of stars with planets
increases and it appears to be a correlation between high stellar
metallicity and the presence of multiple-planet systems. Doppler
planet search surveys are starting to be undertaken in the near
infrared, such as T-EDI, CRIRES, NAHUAL and Gemini PRVS, for planets
around cool stars. We are investigating metallicity determination of
M dwarfs with TripleSpec, a new large bandwith moderate resolution
infrared spectrograph for 5-10 Meter telescopes, for preparatory
science for M dwarf Radial Velocity surveys.
