The focal plane array was designed so that the scan track of each stationary source crossed at least two detectors in each wavelength band each time the focal plane array passed over the source. All potential detections which passed the comparisons described in Section E.1 above were checked for seconds-confirmation, and those which did not seconds-confirm were rejected unless the detector with which they would have confirmed had been declared failed. The latter condition arose most frequently at 25 µm.
