Final 2MASS data processing was started on 2 August 2001 using version 3.0 of the 2MASS Automated Processing Pipeline (2MAPPS v3.0).
Source lists, scan information, and ancillary output files from the final processing are being loaded into the 2MASS Project Databases accessible through GATOR. The OPS databases are listed as "2MASS V3 ...." Access to the Quicklook (lossy compressed Atlas) Images is available via the V3 2MASS Survey Visualizer.

I've created a whirlgif which steps through the following
Ks-magnitude slices of the v3 extended sources
and produces an all-sky surface density plot:
8.0-12.0
12.0-13.0
13.0-13.5
13.5-14.0
8.0-14.0
...a whirlgif which shows the all-sky uniformity of
the extd source working database (dup resolved) for narrow
magnitude slices at the faint end. It looks like the spatial
uniformity is very good down to Ks<13.8.
