Far-Infrared Deep Extragalactic Legacy Survey (FIDEL) contains sensitive and
extensive far-infrared deep field observations with Spitzer to detect warm dust
emission from hundreds of relatively ordinary starburst galaxies and active
galactic nuclei at redshifts of 1 to 2 (7 to 10 billion years ago), and
thousands more nearby. The survey also detected tens of thousands of high
redshift objects at mid-infrared wavelengths. The program obtained data in three
fields on the sky. The bulk of the data is in two fields, the Extended Chandra
Deep Field South (ECDFS) and the Extended Groth Strip (EGS). A smaller amount of
additional data was obtained in the GOODS-North area.
