Overview

The Spitzer IRAC/MUSYC Public Legacy Survey in the Extended Chandra Deep Field South (SIMPLE) is a Cycle 2 Spitzer Legacy program that consists of deep IRAC observations (several hours per pointing) covering the 0.5 x 0.5 deg area surrounding the GOODS CDF-South field. This low-background region of the sky has by far the best supporting data of any cosmological survey field of comparable area, with deep observations from the X-rays to the thermal infrared. The SIMPLE data release 1 (DR1) comprises a full reduction and mosaics of all IRAC observations in 4 channels (at 3.6, 4.5, 5.8, and 8.0 µm), a photometric catalog with IRAC-detected sources, and documentation of the procedures used for reduction and photometry.
