Overview

The "Surveying the Agents of a Galaxy's Evolution" (SAGE) dataset is a Spitzer Legacy survey of the Large Magellanic Cloud (~7d by 7d) using IRAC and MIPS with the goal of studying star formation and the ISM. A similarly named "SAGE-Spectroscopy: The Life Cycle of Dust and Gas in the Large Magellanic Cloud" (SAGE-Spec) survey followed up with IRS and MIPS-SED spectra of a representative sample of point sources and extended regions in the LMC. The warm mission program "An Infrared Survey of Variability in the Magellanic Clouds" (SAGE-Var) further used four epochs of IRAC imaging to probe variability in the bar of both galaxies.
